Job Title:

Planned Giving Officer

Reports to:

Development Director 

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Development Director, the Planned Giving Officer is responsible for the planning and implementation of a Planned Giving program to promote, cultivate, solicit and steward deferred gifts to Seton Center.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to serve in a Christian organization and the community in which it serves
  • Masters level preparation or equivalent experience in Planned Giving
  • Planned Giving experience of at least five years
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Planning experience which includes aspects from assessment to program design, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to articulate the vision, goals and activities of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups in a manner that is culturally competent
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and facilitate cooperation among departments/organizations
  • Ability to teach/coach groups and individuals toward participation and collaboration in Planned Giving

  • Ability to focus on the Mission, Vision, Goals and Strategic Direction of Seton Center and Ascension Health
  • Strength in decision making and communication

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a three-year Planned Giving Plan
  • Promote giving through group and individual presentations
  • Cultivate and steward relationships of current and prospective donors
  • Maintain concise records using Raiser’s Edge
  • Develop and work with a Planned Giving Committee to facilitate all aspects of the three-year campaign plan
  • Develop a donor recognition program
  • Interact effectively with financial advisers, estate attorneys, trust officers and other estate planning professionals
  • Keep up-to-date on all aspects of Planned Giving including tax regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to cultivate and steward donors and manage donor relationships
  • Ability to focus on the Mission, Vision, Goals and Strategic Direction of Seton Center and Ascension Health
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Software products and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge

Education:

  • Master Degree in related field, preferred
  • Bachelor Degree required.

Experience:

  • Five years’ successful experience in soliciting Planned Giving
